MICHAEL J. BURR 
President & Executive Director
A veteran dealmaker, Mike heads Challenger’s investment banking arm. Mike
brings more than 23 years of investment and corporate banking experience to the Challenger platform.
Prior to Challenger, Mike was managing director and group head of Mid-Corporate Investment Banking for JPMorgan Securities Inc., where he led a team of 58 professionals responsible for the firm’s Mid-Cap/Small-Cap investment banking coverage for two-thirds of the United States and Canada. Burr’s group had offices in Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Denver, Atlanta and Toronto.
During his tenure, he was instrumental in constructing the blueprint for the firm’s middle market
investment banking coverage model. His group launched this initiative in the
Southwestern United States, which ultimately was rolled-out nationally.
Over his 20-year career with the firm, Mike held various leadership positions, including client coverage of
many Mid-Cap private equity groups. His experience in the private equity arena includes engagements with
Texas Pacific Group, The Bass Family, Oak Hill Capital, Gryphon Investors and numerous others.
Mike graduated with honors from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in business
administration and finance.

JEFF MATTHEWS 
Managing Director
Jeff brings 15 years of investment banking experience to the Challenger platform.
Prior to Challenger, Jeff was managing director and South region team leader of JPMorgan’s Mid-Corporate Investment Banking group; Jeff’s team was responsible
for the firm’s Mid-Cap/Small-Cap investment banking coverage effort. Jeff was part
of the initial team that launched the firm’s middle market investment banking coverage model; which later served as the template for the firm’s national platform.
Jeff’s responsibilities while at JPMorgan included corporate client management,
strategic advisory, private equity and leveraged finance. Jeff’s experience
includes both public and private debt and equity capital market executions,
as well as strategic advisory work across a broad range of industries.
Prior to working in JPMorgan’s Investment Banking group, Jeff worked in the company’s corporate
banking group where he was responsible for delivering the firm’s full range of credit related
products and services.
Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and a master of business administration
degree from Texas Christian University.

MELINA AUDINELLE
Vice President
Melina has over ten years of investment banking experience working with top tier firms covering
public and private companies in both the large corporate and middle market sectors.
Previously, Melina served as an investment banking associate for JPMorgan Securities, Inc. in Chicago,
where she was a member of the Mid-Corporate Investment Banking group. While there, she provided
financial advisory services for mergers and acquisitions, acquisition financings, defense advisory/hostile
takeovers, leveraged buyouts, debt financings, private placements and public equity offerings (both initial
public offerings and follow-ons). Melina worked with mid-cap and small-cap companies across a broad
range of industries including steel/metals and mining, retail, consumer products, paper/packaging, and
global industrials.
Prior to JPMorgan, Melina served as an analyst for Citigroup Global Markets in Chicago, in the Branded
Consumer and Agricultural Group. While there she covered Midwest-based large corporate clients such
as McDonald's, Sara Lee, General Mills, and Procter & Gamble, amongst others.
Melina has a bachelor's degree in economics and international studies from Northwestern University.

GREG GORDON
Vice President
Greg joins the Challenger team with over nine years of investment banking and
corporate finance experience working with both public and private companies.
Previously, Greg served as an investment banking associate for Credit Suisse in
New York, where he was a member of the Leveraged Finance Origination and
Restructuring group. While there, he provided financial advisory services for
leveraged buyouts, mergers and acquisitions, debt financings, private placements
and restructurings. Greg has worked with companies across a broad range of
industries including: energy, global industrials, automotive, retail, consumer
products, financial services, media and telecom, and project finance.
Greg has a master of business administration degree in finance from the University
of Maryland and a bachelor's degree in economics from Rice University.

LANDON PLUMER
Analyst
Landon joined the Challenger team in 2011. Prior to joining Challenger, Landon
worked as an analyst in UBS Investment Bank’s Global Energy Group in Houston.
While there, he provided financial analysis and support for all sectors of the energy
industry. Prior to UBS, Landon served as an analyst for Regency Energy Partners in
Dallas in their corporate finance and capital markets group.
Landon received bachelor’s degrees in finance and accounting from the University of Kansas.

GREG PIERCE
Analyst
Greg joined the Challenger team in 2010. Prior to joining Challenger,
Greg worked as an associate in Mesirow Financial’s Restructuring Group in
Dallas. While there, he provided financial analysis and support across a variety of industries to debtors and creditors, including bankruptcy restructuring,
corporate turnaround, corporate recovery, and creditor committee advisory.
Prior to Mesirow, Greg served as an analyst for Centerline Capital Group in
New York in their corporate finance and capital markets group.
Greg received a bachelor’s degree in economics with a concentration in business
from the University of Kansas.
